I Would like to submit a new release, but it keeps saying I must be a BookHippo registered author to do so. I've uploaded my picture, filled out the forms, and don't know what else to do. Help appreciated.

Try Setting -> Edit User Profile. Does it list 'Author Profile' under 'Edit Profiles'?
