Haunting Harry

by Kath Middleton
Originally published by on 31/05/2018

Out walking, I marched straight into a thick fog and completely lost my bearings.

A man dressed in old-fashioned clothes loomed before me. I tried to explain my predicament but he put his finger to his lips, turned and beckoned me to follow.

He led me to a crossroads where a village shop’s lights invited me. As I turned to thank him, he receded into the mist.

I crashed into the shop and gasped my story.

“Oh, you met Haunting Harry,' I was told.

“Is he… dead?'

“No. Whenever there’s a fog, the daft idiot pretends he’s a ghost!'
