The Car

by Tracey Wilson
Originally published by BookHippo.uk on 13/05/2018

The abandoned car lay hidden by the side of the road, its bonnet crumpled like discarded paper.

Partially hidden by the surrounding foliage, the figure dressed in black dragged the unmoving body into the driver’s seat. A hesitant glance up before returning to carefully, almost lovingly, position the legs, the arms, the head, until it looked like the young flame-haired man was lying there sleeping.

Another look around before closing the car door. A phone was taken from a pocket as the figure disappeared into the woods beyond, talking softly.

“Police, please. I’d like to report a car accident.'
