The Itch

by Julie Vicky Sanford
Originally published by BookHippo.uk on 10/05/2018

I scratched behind my ear like a dog with a flea. The tickle had been persistent all day. It felt as though something was wiggling inside it.

Turning to my mother, I pleaded with her to check.

Pulling at my ear, she drew a hiss from between my clenched teeth.

Her head shook, dismissing me. Scratching again for good measure, I tried to ignore it.

Then a looming giant appeared, blocking out the light. Blowing on my neck, a drop of fluid fell upon it. A booming voice rattled my head.

"There you go, kitty, that should stop the itch."
