Toward The Light

by Iain Edward Henn
Originally published by BookHippo.uk on 04/05/2018

At first, the light was like a dot at the end of a dark tunnel.

As I moved toward it, my anxiety faded. Like the many accounts I’d read, I was overtaken by a sense of calm.

I thought back over my life. Of my mother who’d inspired me to follow my dreams… my best friend, always by my side… and my girlfriend, who’d brought such joy.

Closer now, and the light spilled through the doorway of what lay beyond.

I stepped through, looking out at the audience and the competition judges.

I took the microphone and began to sing.
