Strange Nuts

by Diane Woodward
Originally published by BookHippo.uk on 27/12/2017

Derek was a smart fellow with a rather imperious air. He strolled through the marble-tiled hotel foyer and entered the bar to order his usual lunchtime gin and tonic.

Casually, he wandered over to an empty table. He reached out a hand to help himself to the terracotta dish of nibbles. Taking a handful, he started to pop them into his mouth, one by one.

Strange little nuts, he thought. Inspecting the remaining few in his hand, he gagged with horror as he realised the ‘strange little nuts’ were in fact olive stones that someone else had spat out.
