Teddy Bear

by Claire Apps
Originally published by BookHippo.uk on 22/12/2017

The teddy bear sat on Alice’s bed every night. She didn’t like it. It kept watching her. Even when she put a blanket over its head, it would somehow slip off. Its black, beady eyes would carry on staring.

Lorna came for a sleepover. They played by torchlight till the early hours. They ate sweets and crisps. Eventually they fell asleep holding hands, best of friends.

When Lorna woke the next morning, her long ponytail lay on the pillow, cut off. Alice got the blame.

Trying to make up, Alice gave Lorna her teddy bear, which still held the scissors.
