Post-Christmas Blues

by Sheila Tate
Originally published by BookHippo.uk on 26/11/2017

“Oh dear,' said Joan, “looks like you had a good Christmas. A three-pound gain.'

Marianne stepped off the scales, disappointed. She had been virtuous over the holiday, refusing festive goodies. She worked hard all year and had lost four stone – she hadn’t wanted Christmas to spoil that.

She looked at the group leader. “I wish I had let myself go, it would have been a happier Christmas,' she said, and walked off glumly.

Joan watched her leave and thought: I must remember to recalibrate the scales next week. Setting them heavier this week should ensure a full house next class.
