To Covet

by Ben Westerham
Originally published by BookHippo.uk on 10/05/2016

To covet could be said to be hopeful, to be envious plain unpleasant. So I chose to covet the car you drive, red and low, a baritone fit to grace any opera. I've watched you come and go a hundred times, always with a smile of joy unbounded, something it seems I will never know. I want to. I want to know exactly how it feels to press that pedal and feel the surge within. So I covet. At least I did, until today, when your bright red prancing horse came home by lorry, a crumpled little heap.
