A Yowl in the Night

by Natalia Marx
Originally published by on 28/10/2015

Lina patrolled the streets at night with dutiful determination. Across the alley, a figure moved in the shadows and danger prickled her spine. Clang! A metal trashcan crashed and Lina leapt to the side with a hiss, her hair standing on end. Deep in the shadows, a woman struggled underneath a large man. Lina opened her mouth and bellowed. Over and over, she yowled until a light appeared. “Knock it off!' The large man scrambled to his feet and fled. The woman and Lina’s eyes met. Then, Lina bounded to the concrete and trotted away. Her work was done.
