An explorer of dark tales and twisted minds

Michael Brookes is an Executive Producer with a leading UK games developer. Working in games and writing are two of his life passions and considers himself fortunate to be able to indulge them both. He lives in the east of England, enjoying starry skies in the flattest part of the country. When not working or writing he can sometimes be found sleeping. Which is good as that is where many good ideas come from.

The Beard and the Hair

For over a decade the hair ruled the head it sprouted from. Until, without warning different growth appeared on the man’s chin. Prideful of its already flowing locks, the hair mocked the newcomer, boasting of its length, and that the chin fluff could never match its virility. The beard tried its best, but never matched the hair’s ever increasing length, but it remained determined. The hair’s boasting continued for many more years, until the moment when it lost its crown as follicles fell out. Its demise progressed until the man was completely bald, and still the beard continued to grow.

I'd be happy to contribute a story.

Is it a steady income or large sum you're looking for? You probably can't say, but roughly how much do you need?

Some suggestions:

- Charge for a highlighted slot

Posted in the thread Auto Cento - random stories automatically generated from classic and indie novels

I hadn't realised how clever it was until I started tracing the connections between each line. Very cool.

Does it work like the old game books? I've always wanted to write one of those :-)

Horror and sci-fi for me, and there's usually a book or two a week that catches my eye.

Maybe a suggest a book feature? Pick a genre and a recommended read pops up?

Posted in the thread Have you read any of the SpaSpa winning books?

I'd already read the ones that interested me - since investing in a Kindle I've found that I'm reading a lot more indie authors.
