Pavlov's House by Russell Burgess

Pavlov's House

by Russell Burgess

August 1942. The German Army stands poised to capture the city of Stalingrad. A group of men, led by Junior Sergeant Yacov Pavlov, are assigned to the capture of a single apartment block lying on the edge of German held territory, with orders forbidding retreat or surrender.

Facing almost insurmountable odds, the small group are forced to defend the building with limited resources, while also protecting a group of civilians who are sheltering in the basement.

The savagery and hopelessness of the battle leads men on both sides to question their actions and their own morality while they continue their own personal battles to survive and maintain their humanity amongst the brutality of war.
